After 18 months of R&D and 3 months of public listening tests to develop the sound of our new mic, the Aston Microphones Element Bundle, we can finally reveal the full product details.

Ridyon Tech

In the construction of this mic, Aston devised a new capsule technology called Ridyon, which borrows the best qualities of three capsule designs in common use (dynamic, ribbon, and condenser)

Cardioid Polar Pattern

The microphone makes use of a directional cardioid polar pattern to minimize off-axis sound. This polar pattern naturally, yet effectively tamps down room tone and focuses the audio capture on what’s directly in front of the mic.

The mic itself boasts brand new ‘Ridyon’ capsule technology, combining the best elements of all 3 existing classes of microphone. Utilising 48 V phantom power, the mic’s incredibly lightweight Active-moving-coil-diaphragm delivers high end condenser mic sensitivity and performance, with the punchy bass and rejection capability of a great dynamic mic and the open, natural, sound of a ribbon.

360-degree internal isolation

The Element capsule also has an internal 360-degree suspension system. Element has its capsule suspended in a 360-degree elastomer suspension, giving superior protection from shocks – regardless of direction.
