Genelec 8250A Overview
The Genelec 8250A SAM™ Studio Monitor is a professional 2-way active studio monitor designed for demanding recording, mixing, mastering, post-production, radio and television broadcasting environments. Combining Genelec’s renowned loudspeaker engineering with Smart Active Monitoring (SAM™), AutoCal™ and Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM™) technologies, the 8250A delivers accurate, controlled and highly detailed audio reproduction.
Featuring a powerful 205 mm (8-inch) bass driver and 25 mm (1-inch) metal-dome tweeter, the Genelec 8250A provides an extended free-field frequency response of 32 Hz–23 kHz (-6 dB) and a highly accurate response of 38 Hz–20 kHz (±1.5 dB). Its dedicated 150 W bass amplifier and 120 W treble amplifier provide substantial headroom and a maximum short-term acoustic output of approximately 110 dB SPL at 1 metre.

Smart Active Monitoring with GLM™ and AutoCal™
One of the key advantages of the Genelec 8250A is its SAM™ monitoring technology. When connected to the Genelec Loudspeaker Manager network, GLM™ can automatically align monitors for level, timing and room-response anomalies. AutoCal™ further assists with system calibration, making it easier to achieve consistent monitoring performance in acoustically challenging rooms.
Accurate Sound with DCW™ Technology
The 8250A incorporates Genelec’s Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW™) technology to provide controlled and predictable sound dispersion. This helps maintain a consistent frequency response both on and off axis, while reducing the influence of early reflections and supporting accurate stereo imaging and depth perception.
Powerful 2-Way Active Design
The Genelec 8250A uses an active crossover with dedicated amplification for each driver. The 150 W Class AB bass amplifier powers the 205 mm woofer, while a 120 W Class AB treble amplifier drives the 25 mm metal-dome tweeter. This active architecture allows Genelec to optimize the amplifier, crossover and drivers as an integrated monitoring system.
Minimum Diffraction Enclosure
The monitor features Genelec’s Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE™) technology. The rigid enclosure design helps reduce unwanted diffraction and contributes to accurate, transparent sound reproduction. A flow-optimized reflex port also supports extended and well-controlled low-frequency performance.
Flexible Professional Studio Installation
The Genelec 8250A is suitable for professional environments where reliable and precise monitoring is essential. Typical applications include recording studios, post-production facilities, digital mastering rooms, radio stations and television broadcast facilities.
Ideal for Critical Audio Monitoring
The Genelec 8250A SAM™ studio monitor is an excellent choice for professional audio applications requiring high output, extended low-frequency response and sophisticated room calibration. Its combination of SAM™, GLM™, AutoCal™, DCW™ and MDE™ technologies makes it particularly valuable for critical monitoring in professional studios and broadcast environments.
