Focusrite Scarlett 4th Gen Series Review: PERFORMANCE

Even though the case sizes and feature layouts have changed slightly, the interfaces still have the same functional shape and red metal casework as the third generation. For instance, the 2i2 and 4i4 share buttons and channel selectors, and their encoder-style gain knobs make them feel more slick to use.

The Focusrite 2i2 has a dual-function Direct button with mono and panned choices for minimal latency input monitoring, while the Solo has a single function Direct button. Focusrite Control 2 allows you to access the 4i4’s three software cue mixes, but it lacks a hardware option.

The RedNet A/D converters with a 120dB dynamic range, a newly designed headphone amplifier, enhanced knob halo indicators with output metering for the 2i2 and 4i4, and a revised Air mode are among the technological enhancements found in the 4th generation Scarletts.
