RODE NT1 Signature Series Overview
The latest version of RODE’s renowned large-diaphragm mic, the Rode NT1 Signature Series Studio Condenser Microphone, has the same warm, silky sound quality that made the NT1 series a go-to studio workhorse for millions of people. The NT1 Signature Series is a multipurpose Swiss Army knife designed to provide a traditional studio sound for a variety of applications, from podcasting, content creation, and voice-over work to vocal and instrument recording. It boasts a very low self-noise of 4 dBA and a high SPL handling of 142 dB.
The Best Of Both Worlds
The well-known RODE HF6 1″ genuine condenser capsule has a high sensitivity and a smooth frequency response. The low noise and clear sound are partly attributed to the bipolar output buffer and the integrated JFET impedance converter. A crucial aspect of podcasting and content creation in untreated spaces is the ability to exclude unwanted sounds to the sides and back with the use of the cardioid pickup pattern. The coating is extremely resilient, keeping well-used workhorse microphones free from scuffs, scratches, and other physical flaws. A 20′ XLR cable, an SM6 shockmount and pop filter, and a dust cover are all part of the NT1 Signature Series.
Internally Shock-Mounted HF6 Cardioid Condenser Capsule
- Behind the protective mesh grille, the mic features Rode’s 1″ gold-sputtered HF6 capsule, designed to provide a detailed midrange response with smooth highs and warm bass
- The cardioid polar pattern focuses audio capture on the source in front of the mic, picking up less unwanted ambient sound from the back and sides
- The transducer itself is suspended inside the microphone, using Rycote’s industry-leading Lyre system, minimizing external vibrations at the capsule level The capsule is then married to high-grade electronics that have been designed to provide an extremely low noise level. The NT1 Signature Series is an incredibly quiet microphone, measuring only 4 dBA of self-noise
- The mic is powered by phantom power through the XLR connector
