Yamaha MG12XU Overview
With twelve simultaneous inputs, the Yamaha MG12XU is a small mixer that’s perfect for lectures, recordings, and other events. The mixer has two stereo line input channels that can also be used as mono mic or line inputs (XLR and stereo 1/4″ inputs), two stereo line inputs with 1/4″ and RCA connectors, and four mono mic/line combo input channels. In addition, it has USB connectivity and can record live performances, demos, and other audio at up to 24-bit/192kHz using two channels in and two channels out to your computer.
Each of the eight channels has a high pass filter, pan control, 3-band EQ, and D-PRE mic preamps. Switchable 48V phantom power and an inverted Darlington circuit allow the D-PRE mic preamps to be used with both condenser and dynamic microphones. Additionally, Channels 1-4 include 26dB attenuation controls for usage with powerful sound sources like drums and guitar amplifiers.
Dedicated Outputs
XLR and TRS stereo outputs are available on the MG12XU mixer for connecting to monitor speakers or your PA system. It also features extra TRS 1/4″ stereo monitor outs for sending to powered speakers, amplifiers, or devices like digital recorders, in addition to a 1/4″ headphone output with level control for personal monitoring.
There are 24 effects settings to select from and a dedicated FX bus send level on each of the MG12XU’s channels. The dedicated FX return level control regulates the overall level of the FX bus. These effects, which include chorus, tremolo, auto-wah, distortion, phaser, flanger, reverbs, delays, and more, can be utilized to improve the placement of voices and other instruments in the mix.
