Samson CL7a Large-Diaphragm Studio Condenser Microphone
The Samson CL7a is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone well suited for home, project, and pro-level studios alike. This mic offers a cardioid polar pattern that facilitates greater degrees of isolation during recording; whatever you put in front of the mic will be captured, and elements to the sides and rear of the mic will be minimized.
Sputtered in gold
The capsule provided here measures 1.1″ in diameter, is sputtered in gold, and offers a 3-micron-thick design to give you a balanced, yet lush sound. With a wide frequency response measuring 20 Hz to 20 kHz, the CL7a can help you capture a panoply of instruments and vocals, and a subtle lift around 15 kHz gives you a feeling of air.
miking drums
The CL7a provides a 10 dB pad for better miking drums. A 12 dB/octave high-pass filter can be switched on at 100 Hz to reduce rumble and wind noise. The mic requires phantom power to operate and can accept between 36 and 52V. The capsule offers an internal shockmount for both protection and isolation from any noise caused by vibrations.
Studio Isolation
CL7a uses a cardioid pickup pattern, capturing more of the sound in front of the microphone and offering excellent rejection of sounds to the sides and behind the mic. The CL7a requires less isolation when recording and allows for more control over feedback in live sound applications without inhibiting a natural performance.
Enhanced Electronics
The CL7a is built to take whatever you can throw at it. With a switchable -10dB pad, the microphone is capable of handling up to 147dB SPL (with the pad off), making it adept on tackling loud sound sources like guitar cabinets, brass instruments, and drums. The switchable 12dB per octave high-pass filter at 100Hz minimizes low-frequency rumble.
