Dynamic Microphone:

  • The dynamic mics use a diaphragm, voice coil and magnet to pick the sound waves and convert them into an electrical signal.
  • All dynamic mics can be used without a power supply
  • Less powerful then condenser mic but good in conditions where outside sounds interfere

Condenser Microphone:

  • Condenser mics use an electrically-charged diaphragm, which when vibrates, an electrical signal is generated that is proportional to the sound.
  • All condenser mics require Power supply to be used
  • Condenser mics are louder than the dynamic mics
